FAQ

WHAT IS A PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZER?

As defined by The National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO), “a professional organizer enhances the lives of clients by designing systems and processes using organizing principles and through transferring organizing skills. Professional Organizers help individuals and businesses take control of their surroundings, their time, their paper, and their systems for life.”

HOW DO WE GET STARTED?

Once you call or mail we will have a brief phone consultation during which I will ask you a few questions about your needs.  At that point we can schedule a free 30 minute needs assessment.  This will be an opportunity for us to meet face to face and for me to see your surroundings. We’ll talk about your existing routines and methods for organizing and about what is and isn’t working for you.  Finally, we’ll discuss your priorities and what changes you’d like to see.  If we both feel my services could benefit you then we can schedule a time for our first organizing session.  There is, however, no obligation to do so.

HOW LONG IS AN ORGANIZING SESSION?

Organizing sessions are scheduled for 3 hours minimum but can go up to 8 hours if agreed upon in advance and depending upon the needs of the project.  Consulting sessions are booked by the hour and can be held in person or on the phone.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING AN ORGANIZING SESSION?

Depending on the scope of the project, the first few sessions may be spent sorting and purging.  Before we can come up with a method for organizing your stuff we need to know what you really need to be storing.  We’ll work together to first sort through everything and putting it into manageable groups.  You can also choose to work on your own to speed up this process.  Once this is done, we’ll go through the groups and decide what should be kept and what can be purged (trashed, donated, sold, etc).  Once we finally know what stuff remains then we can work together to come up with a plan for storing it in an organized fashion.

WILL I HAVE TO GET RID OF A LOT OF MY STUFF?

Absolutely not!  No one but you can assign say whether something is worth keeping.  My job is to guide you towards making decisions that will ultimately make your home a more functional space and one in which you feel comfortable.  I will never force you to throw anything away.  We’ll work together every step of the way to make sure that, in the end, you’ll be happy with the results.

HOW DO YOU CHARGE & WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT ARE ACCEPTED?

Organizing services are charged at an hourly rate.  I accept cash or checks and payment is due upon completion of each organizing session.  Pre-paid blocks of time can be purchased in advance at a discounted rate.

WHAT AREA DO YOU SERVICE?
